Dessert

Whisk together sugar, butter, milk, vanilla, salt, and eggs.
Whisk in the yeast.
Add flour 1/2 cup at a time while stirring until a firm dough forms.
Knead the dough about 5 minutes.
Return dough to bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled (~1½ hours).
Pat and roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness.
Cut out circles of dough and set aside.
Let the dough rounds rise about 30 minutes until doubled.
Heat oil to about 350°F in a deep pot or pan.
Deep-fry a few pączki at a time until golden brown, flipping so both sides cook.
Fill a pastry bag with jelly, jam, or custard.
Pipe filling into the pączki by inserting the bag's tip into their sides.
Sprinkle powdered sugar on top to taste.
