Chicken

Cut the chicken into eight pieces.
Heat the olive oil in a medium sauté pan.
Sauté the chopped onions until they turn yellow, about 3–4 minutes.
Add the chicken, black peppercorns, salt and sweet paprika and stir to coat.
Add enough water to cover the meat.
Bring to a low simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is tender (about 45–50 minutes total).
After 10 minutes of simmering, if using, add the green and red bell peppers and the carrot.
If necessary, add more water sparingly; do not boil—the chicken should be almost fried by the end.
During the last 15 minutes stop adding water and reduce the liquid until about a half finger's width of gravy remains.
Stir the sour cream and heavy cream into the gravy.
Top with chopped fresh parsley.
Serve with dumplings, rice or mashed potatoes and salad.
