Combine the flour and salt on a wooden work surface.
Make a well in the flour and add some of the water and oil.
Mix in a little flour from the edges while keeping the wall intact.
Knead the mixture until the liquid is incorporated.
Continue adding the remaining water and oil and knead until fully incorporated.
Knead the dough until smooth and not sticky.
Place the dough in a lightly floured, slightly warmed bowl brushed with oil.
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth (not touching the dough) and let it rest 30 minutes.
Place the dough on a very large, well-floured cloth.
Stretch the dough gradually by hand until paper-thin and trim off thick edges.
Toast the breadcrumbs in butter until golden.
Scatter the toasted breadcrumbs over two-thirds of the dough.
Arrange the apple slices on top of the breadcrumbs.
Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and nuts over the apples.
Brush the remaining third of the dough with some melted butter.
Fold the side edges slightly toward the center.
Roll up the strudel from the apple side using the cloth to help.
Transfer the rolled strudel to a baking sheet.
Brush the entire rolled strudel with melted butter, including the ends.
Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 35 minutes, brushing with melted butter 2–3 times during the first 15 minutes to help it brown.
Remove when browned and cooked through; cool slightly.
Slice into individual portions and serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
