Dinner

Mix salt, black pepper, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, ground star anise, curry powder, ground cinnamon, dried basil and garlic powder; set aside.
Score skin of duck breasts in a diamond pattern without cutting into the flesh.
Rub both sides of each duck breast with the spice mixture.
Refrigerate the rubbed duck breasts for at least 1 hour.
Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
Process Mandarin oranges, soy sauce, honey and chile paste in a food processor until smooth.
Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and boil over medium-high heat until reduced by half; let cool to make the glaze.
Grill duck, skin-side down, 4–5 minutes, brushing liberally with glaze once or twice.
Flip and grill the duck 3–4 minutes more, brushing with glaze, to reach medium-rare.
Bring any remaining glaze to a boil, pour into a dipping bowl, and serve alongside the duck.
