Sift the flour and salt into a large bowl, make a well and add the yeast
Warm the milk and butter in a saucepan until the butter melts and the mixture is lukewarm
Add the warmed milk and melted butter mixture and the egg to the flour mixture and stir until a soft dough forms
Tip the dough onto a generously floured work surface and knead for five minutes, adding more flour if necessary, until smooth and elastic
Lightly oil a bowl with vegetable oil, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat, cover and set aside in a warm place until doubled in size
Lightly grease a baking tray
Knock back the dough, turn out onto a lightly floured surface and roll into a 0.5cm rectangle, brush all over with melted butter and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and dried fruit
Roll the dough into a tight cylinder, cut into ten 4cm slices and place them onto the lightly greased baking sheet with space between each, cover and set aside to rise for 30 minutes
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Bake the buns for 20–25 minutes until risen and golden-brown
Heat the small milk and caster sugar in a saucepan until boiling, then reduce heat and simmer for 2–3 minutes to make the glaze
Remove the buns from the oven, brush with the glaze and set aside to cool on a wire rack
